The lion came to me with previous repairs which had discoloured and were unsightly. The repairs were taken down by fuming with a strong solvent gel and the lion was rebuilt with stainless steel dowels and a colourfast polyester resin with onyx powder and pigments to match the translucency of the marble. The missing tail and toe were modelled in wax before being cast in resin and reinstated.
