Mamluk Fountain, Aga Khan Museum, Torronto

The mosaic fountain had previously been lifted and backed on reinforced concrete and, although rather heavy, was found to be structurally sound and didn’t warrant removal. I led a small team to carry out cleaning by poulticing and micro air abrasive and cosmetic repairs to the tesserae. I then worked with engineers and the design team working of behalf of the Aga Kahn Museum to design a suitable mounting system. Following completion the fountain elements and frame were shipped to the museum in Toronto, Canada where I installed it as the centrepiece to one of the newly built galleries.
