The sculpture of a chair by Ai Weiwei came to me for repair having been damaged in transit. The seat and legs were intact but the back stiles and splat were broken in many pieces. Fortunately, little material had been lost and the pieces were doweled together with stainless steel, or Perspex where the marble was particularly thin and transparent, with a colourfast epoxy resin tinted and bulked with onyx powder and mica dust where necessary to match the marble.
